Fibroid Treatment Alternatives

Explaining uterine fibroid treatment options

Uterine Fibroids (uterine leimyomata) are non-cancerous tumors consisting of fibers or fibrous tissue that arise in the uterus and in some cases throughout the abdominal cavity. These growths are highly sensitive to estrogen and that is why they respond so dramatically to Bioidentical progesterone cream what may be considered simplistically as the anti estrogen hormone.

Fibroids develop following the onset of menstruation; enlarge during pregnancy, and decrease, often disappearing after menopause when the estrogen level decreases. Bioidentical progesterone balances the excess estrogen levels that peak during menstruation and pregnancy, when the levels of estrogen are in harmony and balance with the progesterone levels then any fibroids will decrease in size and frequency.

Fibroids can be as small as a spec of sand or grow to the size of an orange or grapefruit, which they commonly do when untreated or let go for to long without some hormone correction. The largest fibroid on record weighed over 100 pounds. Fibroids afflict many women, especially from ages 30 to 50 and rare in women under 20. One in four women in the U.S has at least some evidence of fibroids. Discovery is usually accidental, and coincidental with heavier periods, irregular bleeding, and/or painful periods all of which are signs of excess estrogen (estrogen dominance).

In cases where the fibroids size compromises other bodily functions such as compression on the bladder or excessive bleeding, surgery may be necessary. Unfortunately, many unnecessary hysterectomies are performed way before a woman reaches this stage. Before natural alternatives such as Bioidentical progesterone are considered. In fact, over 500,000 hysterectomies are performed every year in the U.S. alone without exploring options that leave a woman's endocrine/hormone production system intact.

Fibrous tissue in the myometrium is sensitive to estrogen. The higher the estrogen, the faster the fibroid grows. While a fibroid itself does not usually lead to cancer or become cancerous, it clearly signals a serious underlying imbalance in the woman's reproductive and hormonal system. Specifically there is an estrogen dominance and progesterone deficiency. Such imbalances do not only affect the uterus, but affects other hormone-sensitive tissues such as breasts, cervix, ovaries and the vagina as well. If not taken care of the consequences can be devastating. The fibroid is clearly only one part of a continuum of a disease heavily associated with estrogen dominance.

Estrogen Dominance

Estrogen and progesterone work in synchronization with each other as checks and balances to achieve hormonal harmony. It is not the absolute deficiency of estrogen or progesterone but rather the relative dominance of estrogen and relative deficiency of progesterone that is the main cause of health problems when they are off balance. A theory that has gained footing is found when investigating the association of xenohormones and fibroid occurrence. Xenohormones are also called xenoestrogens because of there similarity in chemical makeup as estrogen. The difference is that these chemical compounds are many time more powerful than the ones our body produces. These compounds have invaded every aspect of our lives. The chlorinated water we drink and bath in, the herbicides and pesticides we consume from petro chemically grown foods, the lining of canned foods and many of the soaps and shampoo we use daily.

Natural and Holistic Alternatives for Uterine Fibroids

Bioidentical Progesterone Cream (Progensa 20)

Bioidentical progesterone cream minimizes the size and frequency of uterine fibroids by balancing the excess estrogen levels.  Bio identical progesterone use is the single most successful treatment for uterine fibroids. Fibroids will shrink  and dissolve with the use of progesterone. Synthetic progesterones called progestins are not  known to improve fibroids because of their inability to balance the body.

Herbal Formula (ProSoothe)

ProSoothe is an all natural herbal formula that significantly improves uterine fibroids and pelvic pain/cramps, irritability, tension, mood swings, acne, headaches, breast pain, bloating and weight gain.

This synergistic herbal formula contains dandelion and vitex,(chaste tree) that helps the body remove exogenous,(external excess estrogen) from hormone therapy or contaminated food,(xenosteroids).

Milk Thistle (Silymarin)

Beyond the treatment of liver disorders, everyday care of the liver lays a cornerstone for total body health. Naturopaths and others who look beneath the symptoms of an illness to its underlying cause, often discover that the liver has had a role to play. This is true across a vast range of different ailments including uterine fibroid tumors. When your bodies liver is overwhelmed or compromised by use of pharmaceuticals or xenohormones the liver is unable to fascilitate the breakdown of estrogen, leaving a women with excess. This excess estrogen is one of the leading causes of Uterine fibroid tumors.
